The exceptional neurosurgeon and physician advocate Stewart B. Dunsker, MD made this statement in a recent speech when accepting his "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Ohio State Neurosurgical Society. His remarks were met with a standing ovation. The sense of overwhelm and upstream battle referenced by Dr. Dunsker is shared among physicians and healthcare organizations across our region. Rapidly evolving guidelines, shifting funding streams, and ever-changing legislation can make even the most dedicated among us feel unsteady. Yet, as Dr. Dunsker reminds us, physicians have faced daunting challenges before — and prevailed. What sustains us in these moments is not the strength of one, but the collective power of we. Together, we adapt. Together, we advocate. Together, we support one another so that we can continue to deliver exceptional care to our patients and communities. As you read this issue of the Academy's newsletter, we hope you see reflections of that “we” — colleagues leading with resilience, organizations collaborating for solutions, and a physician community that is stronger together.
