Dear Colleagues,
The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati has released a new Physician Commentary examining the potential public health implications of the recent withdrawal of the EPA’s 2009 Endangerment Finding.
Authored by a local pediatric pulmonologist, the article explores the connections between air quality, environmental policy, and patient health, including a growing body of evidence associating air pollution with respiratory disease, cardiovascular illness, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and childhood health impacts.
It also addresses the economic arguments surrounding environmental regulation and highlights why these issues are particularly relevant for patients and communities in Ohio.
Following the author’s submission, the Academy also engaged with congressional offices representing our district to share physician perspectives on environmental health policy.
Physicians interested in sharing their perspective with Ohio’s U.S. Senators will find a brief template message included with the article.
Thank you for your continued leadership in advancing the health of our community.
Sincerely,
Chris Paprzycki, MD
President, Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati
