A Message to Members: The Academy's Independence & Commitment
Our Commitment to an Independent Voice for All Physicians
In light of recent questions from physician members, we want to provide clarity about the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati's organizational independence and reaffirm our commitment to nonpartisan physician advocacy.
The Academy does not endorse candidates for public office, nor do we direct membership dues or organizational funds toward political candidates or campaigns. We are organizationally and financially independent of state and national medical associations and are not affiliated with any political action committees (PACs). Political endorsements made by other organizations do not represent the positions of the Academy.
Our nonpartisan commitment does not mean remaining silent on issues that matter to medicine and public health. The Academy has a longstanding history of advocating for evidence-based medicine, sound public health policy, physician autonomy, and the well-being of the patients and communities we serve. We will continue to speak out on these issues based on medical evidence and the interests of physicians and patients—not political affiliation.
Our commitment remains unchanged: to serve as an independent voice for all physicians, regardless of political affiliation, specialty, or practice setting, and to bring physicians together around the shared principles of our profession.
