2017 Academy Events

Event wise, 2017 was a busy year for the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati.

Beginning in the spring, the Academy of Medicine joined the University of Cincinnati in presenting the Southwest Ohio Regional Update in Internal Medicine 2017, a board review course. The educational program was generously supported by the Academy Foundation. Academy members received a considerable discount on the registration fee. The Academy will once again support the program to be held in February 2018. Watch for more information to come.

The Academy also partnered with TriHealth for its MACRA Educational Event held in April.

Also in April, the Academy’s 50+ Physicians Special Interest Group (SIG) held a luncheon program featuring “The History of Law Enforcement in Cincinnati.” These events are free to Academy members and their guests.

On the social side, the Academy sponsored an outing to Keeneland Race Course on April 9. Members and guests were treated to a private lunch with access to a suite for viewing the races.

In June, the Academy hosted its first ever group outing to an FC Cincinnati match. Members enjoyed discounted ticket prices to see the Queen City’s professional soccer club in action.

Two online webinar series, one in June and one in October, were presented by the Academy’s IT partner, PBSI Technology Solutions. Featuring health care technology topics, the webinars were free to Academy members and their staff.

In October, the Academy hosted “How to Keep More of the Money You Make” with corporate supporter Diversified Brokerage Specialists. This free, financial planning event was open to physicians, residents, medical students along with their spouses and significant others.

In September, the Academy held its 161st Annual Meeting an Awards Celebration. This event features the installation of the Academy leadership for the coming year, the awarding of the prestigious Daniel Drake Humanitarian Award, the distribution of the 50-Year Physician Awards, and for the first time this year, the presentation of the Foundation’s Medical Student Scholarship. Attended by more than 150 members and guests, this meeting serves both an educational and social function.
